What kind of conditions do you work with?
- Rehabilitation / recovery following an event such as a stroke, brain injury, or spinal cord injury
- Management / rehabilitation for neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, muscular dystrophy, or functional neurological disorder (FND)
- Any condition that affects the brain, spinal cord, or nervous system
What happens during a neurological physiotherapy session?
All sessions are carried out in your own home. The physiotherapist will use a range of techniques depending on your goals and needs. Examples of what a neurological physiotherapy session might include are:
- Exercises to strengthen muscles
- Stretches for joints and muscles
- Practise key movements such as getting out of bed or standing up
- Improve mobility (eg walking)
- Improve balance
- Address any problems with sensation
- Recommend equipment that may improve independence
